Scandinavian style

This style is characterized by purity of form and subdued colours. A strong accent is placed on elements typical of Scandinavian architecture, such as natural light wood or wood painted white. These materials appear in tasteful furniture, walls, and flooring. The Scandinavian interior is warm and cozy.

Two trends within this style can be distinguished. The first features an idyllic atmosphere with simple, stylized furniture. The second is more minimalistic, with a limited palette of colours and shapes. Warm gray, white, and shades of blue are common in Scandinavian interiors. Light colours tend to promote relaxation and rest. The character of Scandinavian design relies on subtle, effortless decoration that combines bright colours with small accessories. Intense colours like yellow, red, black, and mainly white also appear.

These colours can be found not only on walls but also on floors, furniture finishes, and numerous accessories. More than any other style, Scandinavian design allows for a relaxed mix of objects with very different natures. In the colour hierarchy, cool blues, powder pinks, beige, brown, delicate yellows, and soft grays have their place. Against such a background, striking colourful accents work well, appearing on everyday objects like paintings, cushions, curtains, or dishes.
