Living room

The living room is the most representative part of the home so it’s the perfect place to get creative with colours. In fact, you can afford to be bolder here because it is usually the largest room in the house. However, it’s worth keeping in mind some universal tips that work well in any interior.

First consider the room’s sun exposure. Warm colours don’t need much natural light to shine while cooler tones tend to look better in living rooms with south-facing windows.

If your living room has an unusual geometric shape or connects with the kitchen you can emphasize these features by using different colours on individual walls or sections of the space. On the other hand if you want to visually bring the room closer to a square shape paint the walls farther from the center in darker shades and the ones closer to the center in lighter tones.

The most important and sometimes overlooked advice is not to follow trends blindly. Remember that the wall colour will be the backdrop of your daily life for several years. If you don’t feel comfortable with trendy colours choose something less striking but safer and more timeless.
